Cell Model Project

CELL MODEL PROJECT

Deadline: Friday 9/30/2011

Using the 6th grade science book, worksheets, and internet, design a plant or animal cell model. The model should be 3-D (or at least not just a drawing on poster board), and all of the parts should be clearly labeled and structurally as accurately as possible. You WILL be explaining each organelle and its function during the presentation so be sure to write each organelle and its function on a separate sheet of paper.
The goal of this project is to design a model that represents how the cell functions and displays the important parts of the cell. You will present your project in the class, so make sure you understand your model and how the various cell organelles work.
Some ideas – use recycled materials. No need to purchase materials for this project.
ü
ü use a shoebox or any other pre-formed shape that is useful – old basketball sawed in half, plastic gallon milk carton, cereal box , Styrofoam
ü
ü use pasta, buttons, candy, shoelaces, yarn, marbles, etc., for parts

ü type your labels (put them on toothpicks to be flags, if needed)
ü
ü Make edible cell cakes!
ü
ü Have fun!!!

**Caution, if you use Play-do, it will most likely dry up and fall apart before you even turn in your project. Only use REAL modeling clay***

Here are the some web sites that you can get more ideas:
